Valentine is pleased to be on this team that has been awarded the American Public Works Association Monterey Bay Chapter 2023 Project of the Year ($5M to $25M project) Award. The award includes two pump stations and approximately 7,000 linear feet (LF) of 36-inch pipeline (Parallel Pipeline) that were installed to direct the new main water supply in the opposite direction of the historical flow direction for this aging water distribution system. The project involved careful planning and coordination with a great project team. The 36-inch pipeline was installed in a busy road that was also within an area with special unexploded ordinance (UXO) conditions. The two pump stations – Carmel Valley Pump Station and Forest Lake Pump Station were designed and controlled to operate in conjunction with each other to successfully provide pressures needed within the transmission main.
