Project Overview

As part of a multi-site improvement program for Arizona State Parks, the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) contracted Valentine to provide engineering services for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements at Tonto Natural Arch Bridge Park in Pine, Arizona.

The project involved replacing the park’s booster pumps, piping, controls and instrumentation associated with the submersible spring water system and park-wide water distribution. Design improvements to the potable water storage tank included cathodic protection, a new level alarm system, enhanced safety features, and an automatic fill system. Additional water infrastructure upgrades included the installation of backflow prevention, yard hydrants, and isolation valves throughout the Park’s irrigation system.

As part of the wastewater infrastructure upgrades, Valentine also coordinated inspections of the Park’s three (3) septic and leach field systems with replacement of the septic tank inlet sewer lines.

Due to the Park’s historical and cultural preservation, Valentine contracted Westland Engineering & Environmental services to conduct an evaluation study in accordance with current archaeological standards set forth by the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to help ensure improvements would not adversely affect historical properties.

Valentine completed final design, permitting coordination through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), bid phase preparation and construction administration services.
