Project Overview

Valentine provided complete design, permitting and construction assistance for the odor control improvements at the Beardsley Road WRF along 111th Avenue in the City of Peoria. The Beardsley WRF consists of headworks, extended aeration basins, secondary clarification, sand filtration, and both UV and chlorine disinfection facilities. Odor control was previously maintained by a three-stage wet scrubber; however, odor control had been an issue for staff and nearby residents. The upgraded odor control facilities consisted of a 5,000 square foot, below-grade biofilter with impregnated soil media, 20,000 CFM fan, grease filter, and 42-inch foul air duct. The existing headworks facility air ducts were modified, and new air duct and supports were designed for inside the headworks facilities. The biofilter required design of concrete walls and consisted of a 6-inch underdrain and geomembrane liner.
