Project Overview

Great Basin Water Co. (GBWC) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) 3 is a 1.5 MGD permitted plant which discharges effluent to Discovery Park and the Lakeview Golf Course. Discovery Park, a former golf course, is approximately 160 acres of land. A 24-inch reclaimed water line from the plant previously discharged into an existing lined receiving pond and two lined overflow ponds. These pond liners were torn and the basins were filled with debris and sludge. The effluent from the receiving pond was then distributed for reuse via two irrigation pump stations. The pump station buildings were also beyond their useful life and becoming an eyesore.

Valentine developed a design to remediate, enlarge and partition the existing receiving pond and create two receiving ponds allowing one pond to be down for maintenance as needed without interfering with effluent discharge operations. The design also rehabilitated the pump stations and provided additional site piping to connect to the new storage ponds. Valentine acquired permit approvals with Nye County and Nevada Department of Environmental Protection.
